When there is a leak beneath the shower basins

It can be incredibly annoying when water leaks into your home from your upstairs neighbours flat.  It can be incredibly embarrassing when it is your flat that is the cause of the leak.

And that is exactly what happened to one of our customers whose plumbing pipes had sprung a leak and was causing water to leak into their downstairs neighbours flat.

Luckily, the leak was going from the bathroom and leaking into the downstairs neighbours bathroom and was literally dripping from the ceiling into the bathtub.  Not ideal but we have seen a lot worse in our career as a plumber in Glasgow.

To get to the leak, we had to lift the shower basin to gain access to the pipework.  The cause of the problem was simply metal fatigue.  In so many of the older red sandstone tenement flats that are spread across Glasgow, you are dealing with a hotch potch of plumbing pipework.  And while modern plastic pipework is easy to use, tough and durable, copper pipework can more easily ware away over the years.  And that is exactly what happened.

The customer did the right thing though.  They immediately cut the water supply to the  flat to stop the leak and then called JSL Plumbing.  Because it was a water leak, we were able to send one of our team out to the Glasgow West End address that day to inspect the problem, confirm a cost for it and then repair it for them.
