Whitecraigs, for those that have visited the area, has quite a few bungalow houses. Now while these bungalows are newer than some of the Sandstone properties you also find across the South Side, they are still quite old. Yet so many of these homes still feature their originally fitted radiators. That is not a problem, radiators after all are quite sturdy heating devices. However poorly maintained radiators are always going to extract their revenge for all the neglect they receive and that is exactly what has happened to this particular Whitecraigs customer.
Two of their radiators (one in the hall and one in the spare bedroom) had both begun to leak. If you have ever experienced a leaking radiator before, you will know that we are not talking about an intense hose like leak but more a very light drip….
And that light drip over a long period of time can both go unnoticed and cause significant damage. Carpets can become rotten, floorboards can rot away and damp can cause wallpaper to peel and wall plaster to crumble. And all from a slow and almost undetectable drip from a leaking radiator.
So our advice to you – check your radiators periodically for signs of wet/dampness. A simple rub of your hand around any vulnerable points (be careful not to burn yourself of course) every so often is all that is needed.
And if you do indeed find a light radiator leak then call on JSL Plumbing. Our team of Plumbers cover all of Glasgow and we can be at your door that very day for emergency call outs. Call us today on 0141 406 1658
